Krishna Janmashtami also Known as Gokulashtami is the festival celebrated every year on the day when lord  Krishna was born who is known as the eight avatar of Lord Vishnu.

How the date of Krishna Janmashtami is Calculated ?
Date of Krishna Janmashtami falls on 8th night of the Krishna Paksh during the Month of Shravan as per the Hindu calendar.So during the month of Shravan when Moon enters Rohini Nakshatra that time and date is mark as a Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami.

On 2nd September 2018 at around 8.47 pm Moon will enter Rohini Nakshatra which is on the 8th day of Shravan month according to Hindu calender so Krishna Janmashtami 2018 will occur on  2nd September 2018.

How is Krishna Janmashtami celebrated ?
Lord Sri Krishna was born on the midnight of the ashtami.People in India and the followers of lord Krishna all over the world celebrate this festival in fondness by keeping fast, chanting bhajan , doing Krishna Puja, recitation of Bhagavad Gita all throughout night and day.In places like Mathura and Vrindavan this festival is celebrated in enthusiasm. In Vrindavan artists perform rasleela, Mahabharat play to dedicate devotion to Lord Krishna.In Mathura celebration to this festival starts 10 days before Janmashtami. In some part of  India specially in Maharastra people celebrate this festival in the form of Dahi Handi which is dedicated to lord Krishna's childwood activity by  building the human pyramids and breaking the pots filled with curd or yoghurt. Dahi Handi is celebrated on the next day of Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami. Apart from India all over the world in the Countries like Nepal, Canada, France , Singapore and in most part of the Europe were ISKCON Temple is situated were they spread awareness of Krishna Janamashtami.
